Day 113 - Monday - The Reef

Today we went on our Great Barrier Reef Trip. The crew was fantastic and the weather perfect. Our boat was pretty small so it made the trip a lot nicer and more personal. We snorkeled the Upolo Cay (which is basically a sandbar surrounded by reef) and then moved to “The Wall” for the afternoon. I got a lot of time in the water and saw a lot of fish. I was little bummed that we didn’t go out to the outer reef but I think it would have been difficult on Chad and we wouldn’t have gotten very much time on the reef itself. We didn’t get to see any turtles. I did see some Rays and huge batfish though. Pam took a bunch of pictures with an underwater camera so we will see how they turn out. I also petted a giant clam which was pretty cool. I really wish I had my diver’s certification right now. This will just motivate me to come back some day (if I don’t end up living in a box somewhere). Anyway after the tour we got cleaned up and headed back to the night market for dinner. Everyone was pretty pooped from swimming all day so we called it an early night.
