Since most of the Cairns excursions are fairly expensive we decided to take a day and relax on the beach. We caught a ferry out to Green Island and hired some snorkel gear so we could check out the reef from the beach. The ride wasn’t very long so we even took a later ferry – though we were still up at 6. We spent the rest of the morning snorkeling. It was a lot of grass beds so there weren't a lot of fish but we still saw some - Chad really enjoyed it. Pam and I ran into an aggressive little trigger fish and he attacked us! Little beastie! He actually drew blood on my calf from where he bit me – booger! We took a break for lunch and then a stroll around the island to look for wildlife. We didn’t see a lot besides rails everywhere – but it was still peaceful and allowed us to digest a little. We tried a snorkel from a different beach but just couldn’t find any fish! We headed back to the original beach and snorkeled until Chad got chilly. Right as we were getting out I spotted a sea turtle and quickly swam out to it and kept it close to shore so Pam and Chad could come and see it. In the meantime I ran into another, bigger turtle but it swam out. On the way back to shore we came across a third turtle eating some sea grass and being really mellow so we swam with it for about 10 minutes. So cute! I think they were all greens but they all had fantastic colored shells. We caught the 4:30 ferry home and after showers and a brief powernap we headed off to dinner at the night markets. I got treated to a Chinese pressure point massage to end my day –though I must say I think I prefer the traditional massage versus pressure points – they kinda hurt!
